NPR and BBC Radio recognized the significant accomplishment of her work. Amy Lee Segami (also known as Amy Basic), a former executive and mechanical engineer, is also a professional speaker and an award-winning artist. Her works are in the permanent collection of the Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution in New York. Born in China, she grew up in Hong Kong and received an American education. Amy earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Moreover, she studied many Asian traditional art forms such as: flower arrangement, Ikebana; Tea Ceremony; Martial Arts and Calligraphy. She received numerous awards for her extraordinary ability to bridge art and science.
