Quick review of some of the highlights from the first days of this convention
Each day starts with Rebecca Morgan and 4 friends seated around a table allowing us to eavesdrop on their hilarious viewpoints on subjects we’re all familiar with. Topics covered included authenticity, the value of having your CSP designation, and best seller lists.
The group has dissected and debated with passion, the many things that you might likely find being discussed in any group when speakers get together. Some of the wonderful insights and suggestions from the platform during the first 2 days have been aired with cynicism, derision, curiosity, and light humour. While other things, such as the value of even attending a convention, using old photos and mentioning awards, (both good ones and negligible ones), have been questioned as having a place in the speakers’ marketing toolkit.
It’s certainly made us laugh, and think, and has been very well received. After approximately 10 minutes, the 5 friends are bundled off by the gongs we are all hearing each day as sessions are called in, and the conversation is left hanging, with no apparent decisions made or conclusions reached. It’s an absolutely delightful way to start the day.

Thanks for such a great review of the Contrarian Cafe! I appreciate being acknowledged, but it was Ian Percy’s idea, joined by Scott Halford, Aldonna Ambler and Jeff Havens (he’s not a member). Although we’d brainstormed some of the possible topics ahead of time, none of it was scripted nor rehearsed!
