Dan Poynter knows how to get publicity for a new book - fly around the world in only 2 days.
Dan Poynter is setting out to break a few records, and promote his new book The Air Travel Handbook, by Flying around the world in 2 days.
To bring attention to the joys of public transportation, Dan Poynter will use regularly-scheduled commercial airliners to fly around the world May 17-19.
Dan’s trip will begin in Los Angeles (LAX) on Tuesday, May 17. He’ll fly to Washington (IAD), Dubai (DXB), Singapore (SIN),
Taipei (TPE), and end in Los Angeles (LAX) on Thursday, May 19.
Dan will fly around the world in two days!
Twelve time zones will be covered on United Airlines in 19 hours and the next twelve on Singapore Air and EVA Air.
Dan will be riding in an otherwise empty airline seat. Flying without checked luggage, he is adding just 175-lbs./80 kg (his weight plus a small portfolio case carry-on) to the fuel requirements of the planes.
Dan Poynter loves to fly. He has circumnavigated the globe 20 times, flies more than 6,000 miles/9.000 kms each week, toured 52 countries so far, and skydived into the North Pole.
He is the author of the Air Travel Handbook.
His speaking business has him traveling so much that he has driven his car to a gas station just once since the first of the year. Dan favors public air transport—he practices what he preaches.
This summer, vacationers can avoid high gasoline prices by switching from their cars to planes as they join others in time-efficient, shared-ride public transportation.
